Adolescent DBT

We offer full fidelity adolescent DBT for ages 12-18.  This program involves weekly group skills training and individual therapy.  The adolescent DBT group requires at least one parent to attend the group with the adolescent for the entirety of the program.  The adolescent program runs for approximately 6 months.

The group consists of the following skills:

  • Mindfulness (accepting the present moment without judgment)
  • Distress tolerance (crisis survival skills)
  • Interpersonal effectiveness (setting limits and asking for what you need in an effective manner)
  • Walking the middle path (family communication skills, dialectics)
  • Emotion Regulation (building positive experiences, treating vulnerabilities, tools to regulate strong emotions)

Adult DBT

We offer full fidelity adult DBT.  Treatment involves weekly group skills training and weekly individual therapy.  The adult DBT program is approximately 7 months in duration.

Group skills training consists of the following material:

  • Mindfulness (accepting the present moment without judgment)
  • Distress tolerance (crisis survival skills)
  • Emotion regulation (building positive experiences, treating vulnerabilities, tools to regulate strong emotions)
  • Interpersonal effectiveness (setting limits and asking for what you need in an effective manner)

Integrated Family DBT

A very unique aspect of our program is our ability to offer highly collaborative and integrative services for families. Both parents and adolescents are provided individual services to help with skills acquisition and generalization. We believe that offering such services improves outcomes.  Our team works in close collaboration to keep a tight frame around the treatment.

Adult & Adolescent DBT Group Only

The DBT groups in our practice are open to individuals who are not engaged in individual treatment at Northwest DBT. Individuals could continue individual therapy with an outside provider.

Adult & Adolescent Therapy

CBT and DBT influenced therapy is offered for a number of presenting problems.  Treatment is individualized and research supported.

Consultation & Training

One of the aspects of our jobs that we most enjoy is providing training and consultation in DBT.  We have provided such services to agencies including, Lincoln HS, Beaverton HS, Lifeworks, and Oak Creek correctional facility. We can provide consultation and training in DBT treatment, DBT principles, and program development/implementation.
